Red Letter Day

.

Today the first ever Cooking Comically cookbook is officially out in stores. It’s the first thing I’ve ever published. To me it’s extra special because not only did I manage to create an entire book… I managed to create an entire book that I’m really proud of. The timeline to put it all together was about 6 months. Over that period of time, working on something so hard and so closely I found that it became impossible to judge whether anything in it was really going to work. I worried about it constantly throughout the revision process. But, a few weeks ago when I had the finished book in my hands and had a chance to read through a physical copy… I was really satisfied with how it turned out. It looked better than I expected and read the way I’d hoped it would. Whether I succeeded or not isn’t really for me to decide, though. That’s up to you and everyone else that picks it up and reads it.

.

And I really hope you guys enjoy it. If you do, do me a favor and tell people about it. Id love to make another book and this one needs to do well for that to happen. Put the word out, if you’d be so kind.

.

In other news The Raffle of Win ended today with 540 entrants. Holy crap, you guys. I can’t believe so many of you went through the trouble to send me proofs of purchase. That’s a good bit more than I expected and a lot of emails to reply to. Said reply emails with the whereabouts of the pre-order poster (which turned out awesome, if I do say so myself) are going out now and I should have them all delivered in the next few days.  I’ll announce the winners of the raffle from NY during Comic Con weekend (Oct 10-13).

.

Speaking of which if you look to your right, you’ll see my NY Comic Con info.  If you’re headed there, drop by and say hello.  I’ll have new t-shirts you can’t get anywhere else yet, aprons, books, free stickers etc. Looking forward to meeting some of you!

.

This year has had it’s ups and downs, but it has truly been one of the best of my life. Thank you all for making that possible.

Dude, just got home from nursing school to find the book waiting for me (Amazon preorder FTW!). I’m about to pass out from exhaustion, but I wanted to post that the quality of this book is goddamn mindblowing. I don’t know what I expected, but I never thought it was going to be this good.

    Worth every cent.

  2. Chad Says:

I don’t get it. I went to Amazon and it’s already being offered used? How is that possible if it just went on sale today?

  3. E. Conley Says:

I didn’t get my preorder in today. =C
My bank didn’t tell me they turned off my bankcard, (stay at home mom I rarely use it) so my shipment was delayed. Im definitely bummed out about it. But Ill be happy when it gets here, I’m sure its amazing!

  4. LewdPrude Says:

Beyond amazing. Too many recipes I want to make now!

  5. Morgan Says:

Days events: Received book. Read book. Re-read book. Went grocery shopping.
So good! Make more and more and more!

  6. Chris Vincent Says:

I already ordered it and tweeted about it. Comes in Friday, looking forward to seeing some new recipes in your format! I wish you the best of luck in selling as many copies as possible. 🙂

  7. C. Carson Says:

Mine came in today this afternoon. So exited to finally have it!

  8. Orobas Says:

Just ordered mine from Amazon last night, I’m excited 😮

  9. Peter Says:

Yo dude! I’ve followed your blog for ages – I couldn’t pre-order because I had to wait for my paycheck, but I definitely just threw down an order at the ‘zon for the book. So excited to try some new recipes!

Keep up the amazing work, it’s totally great. Can we eventually expect a Cooking Comically 2: Electric Boogaloo?

  10. Josh Says:

Awesome!! Now I have another cookbook I can get my wife to buy me (it’s something we’ve done since we dated, she buys the book and I make whatever she wants out of it- apparently it’s working well, five years later!)

  11. Kevin J. Says:

    Hey man,
I got the book a couple days ago and I love it! I have to say that you did an excellent job putting it together. It’s easy to follow and the recipes had me and my roommate drooling. 😛
Good job on your first book! I would give you a high-five if I could.

  12. Mandie Says:

This book is brilliant! 🙂 I’ve been showing it to all my friends. I can’t wait to start making recipes ! 🙂

  13. Luke Woods Says:

Hey man, I love the book (I will be ordering several more for gifts for my groomsmen), but on page 28 you mention the baking mix, and I didn’t see it explained anywhere in the book. Did I miss it? An appendix in the book maybe defining a few of the common things that should be on hand would be nice.

Also on page 32, the amount of cheese to shred, I originally read it at 11/4c instead of 1 1/4c (just a spacing issue).

Love the book, love the site, keep it up!

  14. Rob Says:

The book is excellent, Tyler! I got it in the mail yesterday and was pleasantly surprised to see it in a book store I was checking out a couple hours away. I wish you success in book sales, and myself success in winning the raffle! 😉

  15. Willis Says:

Your cook book is awesome, but some of the recipes are so vague that it’s ridiculous.

  16. James Says:

The book is awesome. I’m going to be making Damn Dirty Ape Bread soon!

  17. Stacey Says:

Woot! I tried the Jambalaya. but I couldn’t find the parboiled rice in any nearby store. Decided to wing it and use white rice just to see. YOU’RE SO RIGHT, OMG. Completely ruined the meal. The first thirty mins, everything smelled amazing, but the rice took another 40 minutes to cook (And still wasn’t done, unfortunately). By then the smell was gone and the flavor had vanished. So…ya where could I find parboiled rice? xD
PS. Those Butterscotch pumpkin cookies look SO good omg

  18. Andrew Says:

The book is amazing, and I don’t mean to be greedy….but I want a sequel

  19. Tberb Says:

Holy mother of delicious goodness, this book is amazing Tyler! I made the Steezy Mac n Cheese and it’s my go-to comfort food now 🙂 You did a fantastic job, it’s so funny and well made. Congratulations!

P.S. Stacey- parboiled rice is “partially boiled” rice. Any rice will work- you cook it about halfway then add it to the dish. That way it cooks about the same rate as the rest of the ingredients! 🙂

  20. Tberb Says:

P.P.S.- I bought five of these to spread the Cooking Comically love!!! 🙂

  21. Piper Says:

Congratulations on the book! I’m making the mashed potatoes for my husband’s and my anniversary dinner. 🙂

  22. Piper Says:

Forgot to say the poster was epic! Thanks!

  23. Meghan Says:

I was hoping there would be an answer to the baking mix conundrum as well. I thought it would be along the lines of flour, baking soda and salt. But you know what they say…

Better safe than sorry, better safe than sorry, better safe than sorry…

  24. Tanner Says:

Saw your book today in my local Book a Million… Looked awesome!

  25. Aaron Says:

Found a Typo in your book. Just wanted to let you know. The Sexy Pancakes recipe calls for 3 1/2 Cups of baking powder in both instances that it’s listed in the recipe (however it only takes 3 1/2 TSP.) Rather large typo there, figured you’d wanna get the word out on that one, lol.

  26. Blind Tree Frog Says:

Please add another person to the question of the baking mix recipe.

  27. Blind Tree Frog Says:

Otherwise, great book, sir. Well done.

  28. Diana Says:

Fun book! The husband ordered it, and I currently have the chicken soup cooking for when he gets home. I was hoping to have the biscuits to go with it from the book too, but sadly, I’ve also run into the baking mix problem. On top of that, I can’t find it on the site either. Could you post your version of baking mix please? For now it’ll be a different one for me from another cookbook.

    Keep up the ooking!

  29. Classic Says:

I fucking love this cookbook. I bought it for my brother (who also loves it) so I could steal it from him every once in a while. Seriously put it on kindle so I can take that shit everywhere on my phone!!!

  30. Liz Says:

Hello! I picked up your cookbook and I love all the extra recipes added. But Im with a few other people above in regards to the confusion about what ‘baking mix’ is made of. Its mentioned in the boss cheddar biscuits recipe and I cant find any explanation of what its made of in the book. Getting that cleared up would be great because id love to make this recipe since Im sure It would tastbete great.
